Any forty something women ever travel to other country alone? Please share experieince!?
Hi there, i’m trying to find the guts to actually travel ALONE to England (from miami), since i’m divorced and the kids will be spending the whole month of January with their father. Anybody have any experiences they’d like to share, some advice, maybe some travel agencies in the Florida, Miami area that deal with ‘Alone traveler’s’. Mostly, i need some courage here, i’ve been planning this trip for 2 years now and never get the nerve to do it!. I know Jan is especially cold in England but who cares, (it might be cheaper!). Any suggestions and encouragmente is MORE than welcomed!!
I am 43, and I have been traveling alone, abroad, the last 25 years.
I think I also answered a question about this last year, I think also one of yours. That answer still stands.
This year I have done an other 3 weeks roaming travel in Europe, combining several countries, including England.
In England I stayed in a hostel, a bed and breakfast and in a tent during a meeting.
For January I can not advice a tent, but hostels and B & B’s are good choices for people traveling alone.
In hostels you can choose to stay in a single room, if at extra cost, in B & B’s you will automatically have a room just for yourself, but at a higher cost.
If you can find a group travel with more people traveling alone, perfect, but if you do find none, just come and enjoy yourself.
You will not be the only one, most likely you will be neither the youngest nor the oldest.
If you are still in doubt, start with going away for a weekend. Just to a town not to far away, maybe to see that one museum you have always wanted to see or to see a show in a theater, one that does not come near where you live.
That way you will get used to traveling alone and you can work out whether you have the nerves to go on or not.
