Is it safe to travel and International flight with a 3 week old baby, we are relocating, have to move?
Yes, it should be perfectly safe for the baby. You can check with your doctor if you’re concerned.
A few things to consider – most airlines offer bassinets that attach in front of the bulkhead seats (front row of each section), and that can be really handy if you haven’t purchased a seat for the baby (in which case they can just stay in the carseat when you aren’t holding him or her). But those seats are usually given out at check-in, so you’d want to get there early to request it.
You’ll want the baby to either be nursing, feeding from a bottle, or sucking from a pacifier during take-off and landing; this helps with the pressure in the ears so that it doesn’t become painful.
Make sure you bring extra diapers, clothes, formula (if you’re using it) so that you’re prepared for anything on that long flight. The flight attendants are very good about helping families with babies as well.
